Description

Moist and Buttery Pecan Bread is a Southern-style quick bread that delivers a perfect balance of rich, nutty flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Toasted pecans add a warm crunch, while real butter and buttermilk keep every slice incredibly moist. This easy-to-make loaf is ideal for breakfast, snacking, or even dessert, and it’s sure to become a cozy favorite in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs, room temperature

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature

  • 1 cup chopped toasted pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).

  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Do not overmix.

  • Fold in the chopped pecans with a spatula until evenly distributed.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  • Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Toasting the pecans before folding them in brings out their natural oils and intensifies the flavor.

  • For a sweeter variation, add ½ cup mini chocolate chips or a banana for extra moisture.

  • Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.

  • Try topping with whipped honey butter or a vanilla glaze for a bakery-style touch.
